MASBATE ISLAND
Section Director
What do we believe on Masbate? We believe in Jesus as the Messieh of Israel and our full faith is in his atonement. We believe in the Kingdom of God. We believe this is the New Testament Messianic (Christian) Church. We believe the Church is the Israel of God. We believe Acts 2:38 is the only plan of salvation. We believe there is one God and Jesus is the manifestation of God in human form. We believe the Church will go through the tribulation but will be preserved as the Israelites were in Egypt. We believe the rapture takes place after the tribulation of those days. We belive the word "hallelujah" has an evil meaning and we say instead "hallelu-Jesus." We believe in holiness and separation from the world. We believe that Jews and Gentiles are now one olive tree, one sheepfold, and one body. We believe God has sent the Bishop not to be our Apostle or Lord, but to lead us in the Truth, and help us join in fellowship to win the lost on these 7,000 islands. Pray for Masbate. They are discouraged often but when they hear the sweet name of Jesus and the saints begin to worship, my soul was lifted up. It was on this Island God confirmed my Philippine calling. We pray for this island that God will defeat the confusion now being spread by men who want to shipwreck God's JMFI work there. |
The island of Masbate is over a half days journey by outrigger boat from the port of Bogo. Those who come to this island from Cebu must hire a private taxi for 1,000 pesos ($20) for the 100 mile trip, or ride a bus crowed with people for 250 pesos ($5). The Taxi has aircon the bus is open, hard seats, lots of different people, and sometimes pigs, goats, and chickens. At Bogo the ship is an outrigger type with a motor. It has on it also all people with their farm animals. Many times there are pigs and goats. There are plenty of roosters also. The islands are so far apart, these ships are the highway on the sea. When missionaries come the captian may let them be seated in his pilot shack where they steer the ship. The trip is long, lots of bumps, and if you want to eat you must bring it with you.
When you reach Masbate the waters are very shallow and so you may have to wade to shore. There will be plenty of men handy to carry your luggage (for a tip of course), and even carry you! Ladies always say no! Once on shore there is a steep incline up to the main street where all sorts of people are shopping and selling. Lots of thieves also so beware to keep money hidden and no jewelry (of course we don't wear it anyway). There is one motel here and it is not the best. So bring insect repellent, roach spray, your own bathing supplies. The bath rooms are ancient and not very nice. I have seen them stinking and filthy. But its all there is on this little island. Once inside it is not recommend you go out at night without an escort. The Church meets in an unfinished Church and when a missionary comes, in the school house. Bishop Reckart plans to help complete the Church this year. Soon as we can find the land for other hut churches, Bishop will help us build other worship temples. We desire as many as can to come and help us celebrate. The situation here is very poor. Pastor Bohol has a little business with his camera but it is now old and the flash does not work. He makes pictures of people to put on wood. There is very little money cuz few have money. Bishop and his Church have been supporting Pastor Bohol and his wife. They are very thankful. They pray always for our blessings coz they know if we are not blessed then they are not blessed. They depend on the love and mercy of our brothers and sisters in the Lord in America. Pray for them on this island. There are also two ministers here there in pioneer works and they also need a hut Church. Bishop has the donations already for these from a doctor who attends his Church. We thank the doctor. Now we seek land to have temples here for the name of Jesus and Acts 2:38. Pray for the condition of the Church on this island and the work of the Lord.

Meetings Our Philippine Ministerial Fellowship was organized by Bishop Reckart in February 2003 and set up. Because he desired to empower us to operate our own group according to doctrine, faith, and practice. He turned the entire work over to the Ministers who gathered at our first conference. The Bishop acts as our guide in Spiritual Doctrinal matters. Bishop Reckart has now taken over the Chairmanship of JMFI Philippines. He helps in the USA to raise finances for our hut Churches and Church needs. Bishop Reckart will return to the Philippines for a six months stay in 2005 and meet with different Ministers. He will hold meetings monthly to help strengthen, give instruction, and help to Ministers who seek to join our Fellowship. He will post these meetings in the future. Right now, we pray a missionay team will come with Bishop Reckart in 2005 and come to this island and see what God is doing.
2005 Meeting Pray for this little island that we will find many sheep.
